Questions we are frequently asked..........

What time of year should I prune my trees?
Most trees can be pruned at any time of the year, Often more important than timing is the quality of the pruning. A poorly pruned tree can cause long term problems.

Can I cut down the native tree on my property?
Yes, unless the tree is protected by the RDC District Plan (this varies from council to council). Almost all urban trees in Rotorua (native and exotic) can be removed without RDC consent. Few trees are protected by the District Plan. To view the protected tree list click here.

My tree is too big, should I 'top' it?
No, do not 'top' your tree. Topping is proven to be a very poor pruning practice. There are better alternatives to topping if a tree is causing problems, such as proper crown reductions and canopy thinning. [More Info]
